John Moolenaar   [1961]

US Congressman

John Moolenaar is a Representative from Michigan’s Fourth Congressional District in the US House of Representatives. He was elected as a US Congressman in November 2014 for his first congressional position. He is a Republican representing all or parts of the Michigan counties of Clare, Clinton, Gratiot, Isabella, Mecosta, Midland, Missankee, Montcalm, Ogemaw, Osceola, Roscommon, Saginaw, Shiawassee and Wexford.

Prior to his first position in the US Congress, Moolenaar was a Michigan State Representative, first from 2003 until 2008 and later from 2011 until 2014.

In the US Congress, Moolenaar serves on the Agriculture Committee, on the Budget Committee and on the Science, Space and Technology Committee. The latter appointment clearly points towards his science background in college.

Moolenaar was born in Midland, Michigan on May 8, 1961. As a Dutch American he decided to attend Hope College in Holland, Michigan and earned his BS degree in Chemistry in 1983. Later he attended the Harvard School of Public affairs and earned a MPA degree in Public Administration. He is married to Amy, and apparently has a family. Little information was known about his family when this bio profile was prepared.

Since taking over his US Congress position, he has shown to be strongly in favor of protecting the Great Lakes, strengthening college savings programs, small business tax relief and promoting an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.
