Peter Roskam   [1961]

US Congressman

Peter Roskam serves as a Representative from the 6th Illinois Congressional District in the US House of Representatives. He has served in the US Congress since January 2007, and was reelected for another two-year term in November 2014.

Roskam is a Republican and serves on two House Committees: Ways and Means, and the Select Committee on Benghazi.

Prior to serving in the US Congress, Roskam served in the Illinois Senate from January 2000 to January 2007. Earlier from January 1993 until January 1998, he served in the Illinois House. In other words, he had considerable political experience before running for the US Congress.

Roskam was born in Hinsdale, Illinois on September 9, 1961. He attended the University of Illinois and earned a BA degree in Political science. Following his undergraduate studies he attended the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Kent College of Law and earned his law degree.

While serving in the two Illinois parliamentary positions he apparently also practiced law for a Chicago law firm. In 2005 he reportedly earned as much as $615,000 in fees as a personal injury lawyer.

Roskam is married to Elizabeth who apparently is a talented artist and painter. He is clearly proud of her work and promotes it widely in his communications with the public. They have four children named Gracie, Frankie, Steve and A.JAND OTHERS, 2015.
