A primary task of the New Netherland Institute is to ensure financial support for the New Netherland Project in the form of equal funds to match the National Endowment for the Humanities' series of challenge grants. These funds help to complete the translation and publication of the New Netherland Documents Series.

Donations are also solicited for the New Netherland Institute to develop the Institute’s functions, services, and activities, and to increase awareness of New Netherland and its legacy. In addition, the New Netherland Institute gratefully accepts donations in the form of goods, services, and shares of stock, which will be assigned a cash value at the time of donation in consultation with the donor.

You may restrict your donation to be applied to any one of the Project’s and Institute’s activities.

Donations are currently solicited for the Peter J. Paulson Memorial Publication Fund

and for the New Netherland Institute's 2009 Project.

The New Netherland Institute is a not-for-profit membership corporation organized  under New York State Education Law and is registered with the U.S. Treasury Department as a tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) organization, see the Institute's latest Form 990. All donations are fully tax deductible. Copies of the Institute’s latest annual report may be obtained, upon request, from the Institute directly or from the Office of the Attorney General, Charities Bureau, 120 Broadway, New York, NY 10271.

Donor Benefits

As a member of the Circle of Friends, you will receive a subscription to the Nieu Nederlanse Marcurius, the Institute's quarterly English-language newsletter. You will also receive invitations to special events and the Rensselaerswijck Seminar. Your total annual contribution will be acknowledged in each August/September issue of the Marcurius and on this page at the end of each calendar year.

Corporate Circle, Foundations, Associations

The support of organizations and foundations is a crucial part of this fund-raising effort, as is that of corporations. Gifts are welcomed at any level, but the support of corporations is especially important when that is expressed by becoming a member of our Circle of Corporate Friends.

Your company may become a member of the Circle of Corporate Friends by choosing one of the various membership categories beginning at the Burgomaster's level. To ensure a sturdy financial base for the New Netherland Project and the New Netherland Institute, we hope that we may count on your annual contribution.

In addition to the donor benefits listed above, members of the Circle of Corporate Friends will receive a certificate of recognition, and a direct link will be established from this Web page to your company's Website. Our Website is a particularly active one, with visitors from all over the world.
