Well-known Dutch-Americans This directory of biographies of well-known Dutch-Americans who have accomplished much and contributed to American society, culture and economy has been created by Professor Carl Pegels. Please refer questions, comments, and additional information to him. Read the new online book, Dutch-American Entrepreneurs: Their Contributions to American Society, Culture, and the Economy Professor Pegels was, born in a suburb of Rotterdam and emigrated to Canada at age 16 with his family. He received his advanced education in the United States, culminating in a Ph.D. from Purdue University in Industrial Management in 1966. He has always been interested in history, and especially Dutch American history, but did not pursue it until his retirement from Academia in 2005. He is currently Professor Emeritus, University at Buffalo, State University of New York. Notes: Many of the references are to web sites. Web sites tend to be ephemeral.
