PUBLICATIONS OF THE NEW NETHERLAND PROJECT

The New Netherland Project has a working relationship with Syracuse University Press, which involves publication of translated volumes upon receipt of camera-ready copy produced by the Project. In addition, Syracuse University Press has purchased the back stock of translations previously published by The Genealogical Publishing Company. All volumes below, with the exception of the Curaçao Papers, 1640-1665, are available through Syracuse University Press at 1600 Jamesville Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13244-5160. Tel: 315-443-2597; call 1-800-365-8929 (for orders only); fax 315-443-5545.

When the translation and publication program began in 1973, the series title was New York Historical Manuscripts: Dutch. This title was changed to New Netherland Documents with the publication of the Curaçao Papers in 1987.

The earlier series title distinguished it from a series of publications from the English period entitled New York Historical Manuscripts: English. For this production, the New Netherland Project has provided translations of hundreds of Dutch documents for books in the English government records series.

Of central importance to both series, New Netherland Manuscripts and New York Historical Manuscripts, are the "New York Colonial Manuscripts" in the New York State Archives, which include many, but not all, of the New Netherland and provincial New York government archives. Other records of interest are those of local governments, individuals, and churches.

The bibliography below is that of all Dutch historical manuscripts published by the New Netherland Project, along with works in progress. They also appear in the comprehensive New Netherland bibliography under Primary Sources.
