MISSION

To increase awareness of the 17th century Dutch colony of New Netherland and its legacy in America:

By supporting the work of the New Netherland Research Center, the New York State Archives, New York State Library and New York State Museum;

By encouraging scholarship, research, and assisting those engaged in the study of the Dutch history of colonial America; By developing public educational programs and collaborations with other organizations interested in early American history.

To support its mission, the New Netherland Institute relies on you. Sustained giving contributes to NNI's work with the New Netherland Research Center and helps tell the story of the Dutch legacy in America. Corporate and foundation donors also play a major role in supporting the mission of the New Netherland Institute. Contributions are tax-deductible. to the fullest extent of the law.

Contribute to NNI and support a variety of programs such as the following:

o Translating and digitizing 17th-century Dutch colonial records from New York State and other collections around the world.

o Partnering with academic and research organizations to broaden awarenss of the Dutch in America.

o Building an ever-increasing online database and clearinghouse for New Netherland resources.

o Sponsoring the Institute's Annual Conference showcasing research into the early history and culture of the Dutch in America.

o Providing internships, research grants and awards that recognize and support the study of New Netherland.

o Presenting programs to help educators, students and the public explore New Netherland and its legacy.

About the New Netherland Institute

For over three decades, NNI has helped cast light on America's Dutch roots. In 2010, it partnered with the New York State Office of Cultural Education to establish the New Netherland Research Center, with matching funds from the State of the Netherlands. NNI is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. More

The New Netherland Research Center

Housed in the New York State Library, the NNRC offers students, educators, scholars and researchers a vast collection of early documents and reference works on America's Dutch era. More
