Introduction

A number of private organizations also offer extensive information. Many offer web pages in English, but some are only in Dutch. Click on each logo to visit the organization's website.

Nederlandse Genealogische Vereniging (Netherlands Genealogy Association)

The largest genealogy organization in the Netherlands, an association that has about 8,200 members and is run by volunteers. The site includes a variety of searchable databases. Some are available to anyone; however, to make best use of the databases one must become a member of the Association.

Meertens Instituut (The Meertens Institute)
Can be viewed in Dutch or English.

A research institute in Amsterdam for Dutch language and culture within the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen (KNAW)). Although not directly focusing on genealogy, it includes databases of Dutch first and family names that researchers may find useful.

HCC Genealogie
Can be viewed in Dutch only.

Includes a variety of resources, including links to various local archives and tips for researchers. Some information is accessible to anyone, but some pages require membership.

Geneanet
Can be viewed in multiple languages.

Includes links to birth, marriage, and death records from all over Europe; also family trees, family photographs, old books and newspapers. Some information is available to anyone, but you must become a premium member to access all the databases.

Historische Kring Loosdrecht
Can be viewed in Dutch only.

Located in the town of Loosdrecht in North Holland. Also see their Facebook page.

Staamboomgids (Family Tree Guide)
Can be viewed in Dutch only.

The Family Tree Guide touches on genealogy, family trees, surnames, and archives. The collection of online resources includes links to local and regional archives, church archives, newspaper archives, and others.
