Douglas DeVos [1964] Industrial/Commercial Leader
Doug DeVos is the youngest son of Richard DeVos, Sr. [1926], the co-founder with Jay Van Andel [1924-2004] of the privately owned Amway Corporation. The Amway Corporation is a network sales company which distributes its health, household and personal care products through dealers who in turn recruit second level dealers, second level dealers recruit third level dealers, etc., with the final level dealers typically being the consumers of the products that move through the product chain.
Since 2002, Doug DeVos serves as the co- chief executive officer [co-CEO] of the Amway Corporation. He shares the responsibilities as co-CEO with Steve Van Andel, the son of the other co-founder of the Amway Corporation. In 2002, he also assumed the position of president for the Alticor Corporation. Alticor Corporation is the umbrella corporation which comprises the Amway Corporation, the Quixtar Corporation and Access Business Group, LLC.
Prior to assuming his present senior management responsibilities, Doug DeVos served as the company’s senior vice president for Asia Pacific. He has also served as senior vice president and managing director of Amway Americas, and of Amway Europe.
Doug DeVos is currently the chairman of the United States Direct Selling Association. He is also heavily involved in community, business and education projects in his hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He serves on a number of Boards including the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, Holland Home, and the Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation.
Doug DeVos is a graduate of Purdue University where he earned a degree in management from the Krannert School of Management.
