Bridget Fonda  [1964]
Stage and Screen Performer

Bridget Fonda is the daughter of Peter Fonda, a niece of Jane Fonda and a granddaughter of Henry Fonda. She is the fourth member of the Fonda acting family in the Prominent Dutch American listing.

Fonda had her first acting role in 1969 as a young child in the movie “Easy Rider”. She played the role of a child in a hippie commune. As one of many performers she never received any personal credit for that performance.

Fonda’s next acting role was 18 years later, in 1987 in the movie “Aria”, where she played the role of a lover.

Fonda had a role, usually a supporting one over the next 14 years in a total of 40 movies. Starting in 1989 she also performed in eight TV movies or TV shows. Her last movie role was in 2001, and her last TV appearance was a year later in 2002.

Fonda gained the most recognition for her roles in such films as “The Godfather Part III”, ”Single White Female”, “Point of No Return”, “It Could Happen to You” and “Jackie Brown”.

During Fonda’s entire acting career she received three major awards, the 1990 Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in the movie “Scandal”, the 1997 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the movie “In the Gloaming”, and the 2002 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in the television movie “After Amy”.

Fonda became interested in theater and acting when she participated in a school production of “Harvey”. She later studied method acting at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. She graduated from New York University in 1986. With so much talent in her family one would expect their influence on her acting career. Apparently she refused to accept any acting tips from her famous relatives.

Bridget Fonda was born on January 27, 1964.  In 1986, she met Eric Stolz and began dating him in 1990. The relationship lasted for eight years and then ended. On November 23, 2003 she married film composer Danny Elfman. They have one son named Oliver Elfman. She has remained inactive in the theatrical arts since then.
